Christmas - forget the gifts - I'm a cat - I just want the wrapping paper and ribbons
Christmas wrapping paper is the highlight of the season for felines
Every Christmas, no matter where we are, Nick spends a small fortune on gifts for me.
There’s just the two of us, usually in a country that doesn’t really pay much attention to Christmas, but for some reason Nick shops and spends money on cat gifts that I will probably never play with and simply stuff under the fridge.
But the wrapping paper and ribbons.
That’s what I wanted all along.
Chasing and shredding it all over the house. Now that’s Christmas fun.
Also fun - climbing the Christmas tree, playing with the ornaments and listening to the screaming stream of empty threats of being taken to an animal shelter. Also - an awful lot of profanity - some of which I have never heard before. I think he just makes up swear words as he goes.
Freaking hilarious.
Oh, and he usually makes me a magnificent meal of food - meat, usually poultry.
He made a mistake one year - got me a whole turkey. Now, a turkey, no matter how small, is impossible for a single being (animal or human) to consume in one sitting.
We cats are a finicky bunch, and once we have consumed as much turkey as we want for one year, well you’re stuck with what to do with the leftovers that we will never eat. I hid some leftovers one year and they weren’t discovered until Easter. I learned a lot of new profanity that year.
I have caught Nick trying to feed my fresh leftovers to his two-legged friends. But once they caught sight of me glaring possessively at the bird and asked for an explanation, they politely abandon the meal, never to return to our home for a meal.
Back to the leftover turkey - it will never fit under the fridge, and Nick freaks when he discovers it in his bed, resulting in the leftover poultry being tossed in the trash - which is kind of where I wanted to put it in the first place.
Season’s Greetings to all my biped friends!
Enjoy your turkey!

And empty boxes to fit myself into, don't forget those Nick!
Merry Christmas to you and Ethel the turkey. I’m having a nut roast this year, as I like chickens (chicken is what I usually have). I’ve never met any turkeys, but if their diminutive chicken friends are anything to go by, they’re probably cute as well in their own way 🎄❤️🎉
