I talked about the dangers of felines climbing outdoor trees yesterday. But a lot of my fellow felines asked me for my opinion on climbing Christmas trees.
My advice - if you are older than two human years - don’t do it. A kitten climbing a Christmas tree? It’s cute and it’s going to happen. But they do weigh less as a rule, so the likelihood of toppling the tree is lessened. This applies to both natural and artificial trees.
My opinion - don’t do it - you just might screw up some poor child’s Christmas and subsequent childhood memories. It’s not worth it. If you must mess with the tree - just play with one of decorations on the bottom of the tree. Humans consider it ‘cute’.
And don’t forget you can rip open the gifts under the tree. Lots of gift wrap to play with and boxes in which to sit and nap. Must be done while the family slumbers.
If you simply must climb something - consider drapes or curtains - drapes are made of more substantial material than curtains and consequently are more expensive and you are more likely to hear a lot of profanity. BTW - they’re easy to get down from. A simple leap will usually do it.
Now curtains are typically made of cheap material and can be shred easily. An awful lot of fun. This action will usually result in moderately loud screams from your humans.
Climbing drapes is a totally different game. Made from sturdier, more expensive material. Climbing them will no doubt result in a lot of screaming, a stream of profanities and shunning by your human - but don’t worry - do something cute and they seem to forget the incident as they scan an IKEA catalogue for cat proof vertical blinds made of heavy duty, industrial grade plastic or slippery metal.
And then there are horizontal blinds. Stay away. Nothing but trouble.
Ask this guy.
