Well, it’s good to be back from a national holiday at the old key board but we did enjoy the respite.
If we could only do this every month I think I could convert Nick into a full feline lifestyle. Not that he’s not already on his way. He gets up in the middle of the night, drinks coffee, smokes and watches TV and swears like a sailor at the news being broadcast.
During the day I force him to watch movies and gentle TV shows. We spent pretty much the entire National Holiday watching Geek Girl over and over. Not one profane word and no gratuitous sex scenes. Very wholesome and I must admit he is not reaching for the Xanax every half hour like he does when he’s watching and reading news.
And more importantly - he’s preparing my meals with care and thought. Although I definitely prefer his choice of white wine over the red he chooses. But it is so nice not to hear the can opener whirring and opening what is laughably termed “Cat Food”. And don’t even talk about the dry food he dumps in my bowl occasionally. It’s like eating gravel.
Today was the first day after the 4 day National Holiday and we noticed a very curious thing. Scores of women impeccably dressed in all white, flowing robes and slacks. It was beautiful.
As Nick speaks about eight words in Vietnamese he searched out a bilingual beauty on the street and asked about it.
Turns out today is the first day of school after the summer vacation and it is traditional for women teachers to dress in white.
It was beautiful to observe.
At first I was sure they were all angels and bowed my head as they passed by our coffee place.
If Nick got off his ass and learned a little more of the Vietnamese language we wouldn’t have had to bother these saint like women.
Anyway - we’re back in the real world and the TV is back to spewing news. And the yelling and cursing is back.
Nick’s Xanax is taking a real shit kicking - it doesn’t seem to be helping his anger.
I cancelled our subscriptions to cable news and the myriad of newspapers that appear at our door every morning.
Nick doesn’t know and is phoning our cable provider about three times every hour. Same goes for the newspapers.
Damn humans. If only they could relax like a cat.
And tomorrow he goes to Cambodia to renew our Vietnam visas. I am so looking forward to a nice quiet day.

A truism... "Damn humans. If only they could relax like a cat." 😂
