There was a time when I would spend my days and nights hunting rodents and flying objects - flies, mosquitos and the odd hallucination.
But now as I’m nearing my 11th birthday - that’s close to 8o years old in human years, I’m finding my energy and my thinking slipping.
The other day I mistook a large kitten for a rodent of some sort and I attempted to catch and eat it. I find my cognitive abilities waning.
I’m sleeping and napping more - if that’s possible. I’m spending a good portion of my day watching TV - sometimes it isn’t even turned on.
I’m getting delusions of grandeur more often than I ever did.
So much so, that a lot of fellow feline friends don’t visit anywhere near as often as they used to. My family tends to ignore me and dislike spending time with me.
I frequently hear them say, “I’ve heard that. You’ve told us that before - many, many times.”
And where I used to look forward to a fresh kill, I find myself craving fast food - people food.
I’m nowhere as fastidious as I once was. I’m only grooming every two days and don’t even bother with body parts that are hard to reach.
It sucks to get old.

It’s true, getting old sucks. But the featured feline has aged much better than the human? In the photo.
