In case you hadn’t noticed - I’m a cat - and as such I hate mankind. Most of mankind at any rate. I like some people.
I like Nick - he feeds me and cleans up my shit. He doesn’t mind if I drink from the toilet, even though I walk right by the fresh water he leaves out for me as I make my way to the washroom. But other than him, and the neighborhood ladies who bring me Filet-O-Fish, that’s about it.
So - my carbon footprint is small - just the energy it takes to make my Filet-O-Fish, and I only have one a month. If they ever start putting meat in the Big Macs, I may try one of those.
And Greta Thunberg. I like Greta - especially after this story right here. Take a minute and read it - see if you agree. If you do, I just may like you. Cats are fickle.
What she says is so true - Nick is almost 70, and he says that he and his friends have been climate activists since April 22, 1970 - the first Earth day. Took a lot of people a lot of years to motivate the corporate world and politicians to even acknowledge there was a problem. Getting them to do anything about it has been another matter. And seriously, after 50 years of awareness, not a damn lot has changed.
Nick and I will have shuffled off this mortal coil before the end comes. But it is coming, and it is coming a lot faster than anyone realizes.
I have to make this short - I am getting madder and madder as I think about this.
So read the Guardian article and I’ll be in a better mood tomorrow. I have to kick a dog thru the hedge.
