Okay - that's enough - AI is starting to creep the shit out of me
Freaking machines are learning from their mistakes - unlike the GQP and other human types
Our robovac appears to be learning from its mistakes.
And that is giving me the creeps.
When Nick first started using it, although he prefers a broom, I thought it was cool, once I got over the noise and the erratic movement.
And then I discovered I could ride it.
It was like an amusement park ride for cats!
Sometimes I would even curl up and nap on it as it went merrily around our apartment.
I would sleep peacefully after being lulled by its whirring. I even had dreams while I was curled up on it, loving the heat from it’s engine - or heart. I’m still not convinced it isn’t sentient.
I dreamt it cursed every time it ran into an obstruction and changed direction. I hope that was a dream.
And now I can throw my cat litter all over the place. We cats love scattering our litter - it’s one of our favorite pastimes.
And my neighbor cat, a beautiful white Persian who sheds all over the building, has a robovac. We often race them up and down the hallway. I always win. Fluffy’s man-servant has a tendency to overfeed her and the added weight slows down the machine.
I’m not fat-shaming her, she looks beautiful.
But lately I’ve noticed something a little eerie as I watch the robovac. It seems to learn from its mistakes. If it is constantly running into something it starts avoiding those objects. It seems to get smarter each day.
Since observing this fact, my dreams are scary as hell.
But IF this is the beginning of the convergence of human-machine intelligence, I will love the ride.

Now that is a great idea! Look for the video.
All this time I have avoided getting a Rumba, despite all of my friends and coworkers raving about it. But I was trying to spare my cats from encountering such a thing. I see now how wrong I was. Will one Rumba hold six cats??
