Well, the kitty harness and leash are no more.
Yesterday afternoon Nick and I set out for what he assured me would be a pleasant walk thru the streets of Saigon - it was not pleasant.
I decided very quickly that I was not going to partake in the ‘parading of the bad kitty’ that Nick had planned.
I lay down on the sidewalk as we left the hotel.
Nick tugged gently on the leash - at first. Soon the gentle tugs morphed into jerks on the leash. I was not moving nor was I going to move. I had no intention of partaking in in this blatant display of animal cruelty. Not to mention the sheer embarrassment of it all.
Nick started yelling at me and tried to move me along with his hand. I swatted at the hand. Claws out. It would require three stitches to close Nick was informed at the walk-in clinic later.
After several minutes of this tug of war spectators began to gather. Now, the Vietnamese people are animal lovers and decided that I was being abused and started to yell at Nick in Vietnamese.
A TV crew arrived.
Then two police showed up. Nick was told to remove the harness and leash, and was given a fine of 1,000,000 Vietnamese dong. About $45US.
The cops confiscated the leash and harness.
Nick was right - it was a fun outing.
