🙀 I’m so sorry! A similar incident almost happened to me when getting close to a feral cat.

I have many feral cats. I trap them, spay or neuter them before releasing them out to our ranch. Of course, I supplement their diet with regular cat kibble. So one in particular was very friendly, and I could easily pet her and pick her up. Very loving. She was been dumped here when she was a kitten. So the night she was neutered I allowed her to sleep on her bed and leaving she was domesticated. All night she was curious about my face. Affectionately she’d knead and lick me and purr. Cuddly!

So the next day I picked her up and held her to my face and some thing freaked her out, she reacted by almost biting my face. She had a very angry ferocious look on her face. Outdoors she went and she has never been inside since then. 😼

It is so strange how the most minor of details can freak them out. My sister once put on a head scarf and our cat freaked.

I understand where you are coming from Charlotte, having, live trapped, spayed, neutered and vaccinated 20 ferals. 6 have become house cats , 5 tamed and adopted out and the other 9 friendly ferals who I provide shelter and food. One I have named Fang, a very sweet cat who really wants to be my friend ( I thought) was named Fang for a reason 😹
